Introduction...
“How to Marry a Millionaire” is a fantasy of
romance and happiness.
How to Divorce a Millionaire
is a real life story and a practical guide to help you
when the fantasy dies.  The motivation for this book
is what I learned living through my relationship and
marriage to an alcoholic and then my divorce.  It
applies whether you’re divorcing a millionaire or a
working class hero.
This is my true story.  I hope at times it will make
you laugh, and at times it might make you cry.  But
more importantly, the story in this book will be
enlightening, and can save you time, money and a
whole lot of heartache involved in divorce.
drinking habits.  I know you cannot change another
person nor will love overcome core issues.  The
truth is that people can only change themselves.  I
finally admitted to myself the reality of my situation
and I walked away, but my story does not end there
When I left Frank I realized I needed professional
representation (a.k.a. an attorney).  I selected an
attorney who came highly recommended to guide
and assist me through the mechanics of a
satisfactory dissolution.  When the first attorney
turned out to be a dud, I went to the Bar
Association for the next.  Apparently, the Bar
Association does not screen those attorneys they
recommend, but accepts their resumes without
question or audit.  These choices turned out to be
as great if not a greater challenge then dealing with
Frank.  There is more than an ounce of truth in
every joke you have ever heard about attorneys.
My education as to what is good representation
came as a result of my third and final attorney, who
is a Judge Pro Tem for Family Law in San Francisco.
